Autisticulture is an autistic-led print magazine reclaiming representation and celebrating autistic culture. It challenges stereotypes and creates space for autistic people to share their interests, perspectives and experiences on their own terms.
Autistic representation is too often made by and for non-autistic people. It exploits our stories for humour, inspiration, or entertainment, reducing our lives to flat, stereotyped portrayals that lack depth and reinforce stigma and misunderstanding. Autisticulture exists to reclaim representation and change that: it is a space for autistic joy, for special interests, and for culture in all its forms - from our favourite autistic-coded characters to music, fashion, food, and special interests.
The magazine is produced roughly annually (on crip time). We also publish blog posts online, feature autistic-coded characters on Instagram and are hoping to grow our community with events in the near future.
We believe that while being autistic comes with access needs, it's not a 'wrong' way to be and comes with its own culture and practices. The core principles of which can be summarised with the acronym SCRIPTS:
Sameness, Comfort, Rules, Information, Patterns, Truth & Sensory.

The magazine is written with autistic adults in mind, but teens are also welcome (the youngest Issue 1 contributor was 16). Children may submit work with caregiver consent. Content notes are provided for sensitive topics in the magazine..
